Room Key in Apple Wallet
You can add your room key to Apple Wallet and access your room using only your iPhone or Apple Watch. It's easy, convenient, and secure.
After booking your reservation and completing online check-in, select the Wallet icon to add your room key. Your key will automatically activate once you've checked in and your room has been assigned. To unlock your room, simply hold your iPhone or Apple Watch near the door lock.
Yes. Your room key will automatically be activated for each room included in your reservation.
In addition to your guest room, your room key can be used to access hotel areas that normally require a physical room key, such as the fitness center.
Available access areas may vary by hotel location.
When your room key is added to Apple Wallet, it is stored directly on your device. Apple does not track the spaces you access or when you access them. Your information remains private and secure.
- An iPhone or Apple Watch running the latest version of iOS or watchOS
- An Apple Account signed into iCloud
No. With Express Mode enabled, you can use your room key without waking or unlocking your iPhone or Apple Watch. Express Mode is enabled by default.
Yes. Power Reserve allows eligible iPhones to continue using room keys for up to five hours after the battery requires charging.
When you add a room key to Apple Wallet on your iPhone, it will automatically be added to Apple Wallet on your paired Apple Watch.
You can use your room key on one iPhone and one Apple Watch, provided both devices are signed into the same Apple Account and iCloud account.
Use the Find My app or iCloud.com to suspend, deactivate, or reactivate your room key and associated device.
Try the following troubleshooting steps:
- Update to the latest version of iOS or watchOS.
- Confirm Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode is enabled.
- Verify your Apple Account is signed into iCloud with two-factor authentication enabled.
- Confirm Apple's Terms & Conditions have been accepted within your device settings.

General Digital Room Key
A Wallet key allows you to store your digital room key so you can unlock doors using your phone or a compatible smartwatch.
If your device is compatible with Wallet keys, you will see an Add to Wallet button at the end of your online check-in.
Don’t worry, you can always check in at the front desk when you arrive at the hotel in person.
Yes, you can use both.
If you book multiple rooms on the same date, the Wallet key is only activated for the room you are assigned to. If you book a room on multiple dates, a different Wallet key is activated for each stay. Each key is only active for your current stay after you complete your online check-in.
